DeFeed filters YouTube, X, Reddit, Hacker News and Facebook by keyword, author or site. It runs entirely on your computer and keeps up with infinite scroll.
Version 0.6.4 is in final testing. The Chrome Web Store listing is on its way.
Most feed filters make infinite scroll stutter. DeFeed checks each post in about 20 microseconds, and its longest block of work stays under 6 milliseconds, well inside the time your browser has to draw a frame.
It started as a fix for slow Facebook filters. Scrolling should feel like scrolling.
Type a rule and watch it work on a few sample posts. DeFeed matches whole words, so a rule for one thing doesn't quietly hide another.
Separate several rules with commas.
cryptoWhole words only. It leaves “cryptography” alone.electionIgnores case and accents, so “ÉLECTION” counts.elect*Catches other word forms: election, elected./regex/For everything else, if you like regular expressions.Rules do most of the work. These handle the rest.

One view shows only the filtered posts, each labelled with the rule that caught it. Fix a wrong hit with “Never hide this post” or by removing the rule.
Hide three posts from the same author or with the same word, and DeFeed offers to make it a rule. Worked out on your computer, with no AI involved.
Posts removed, an estimate of scrolling time saved, a per-site breakdown and your top rules. Share it as a 1200×630 image.
Rather keep filtered posts in view? Dim mode fades them instead of hiding them. Hover one and it comes back to full strength.
Most filters cover a single site, and some X-only ones charge about $5 a month. DeFeed handles all five with one set of rules, for free.

Yes. Every feature on this page is free. A paid Pro plan with meaning-based filtering is planned for later, and it won't take anything away from the free version.
DeFeed reads the posts on the five supported sites so it can filter them, and it does that inside your browser. It has no server and no account, and nothing about your feed is sent anywhere. Your settings sync between your computers only through your own Chrome sync.
YouTube, X, Reddit (both the new design and old.reddit), Hacker News, and Facebook. Facebook support is in beta because its page layout changes often.
It shouldn't. Each post takes about 20 microseconds to check, and the longest single block of work stays under 6 milliseconds, so scrolling stays smooth even on long sessions.
Open “What did DeFeed filter?”. It shows only the hidden posts, each with the rule that caught it. Choose “Never hide this post” or remove the rule. If you'd rather never miss anything, turn on Dim mode.
Type a word or phrase. Matching ignores case and accents and works on whole words. Add * to catch other forms (elect* catches election and elected), or wrap a pattern in slashes for a regular expression, like /\d+x\b/. You can also filter by author or by site.
Use the bug report form. It includes your DeFeed version, browser, the site, the mode, how many rules you have (never the rules themselves) and one performance number. You can also email defeedsupport@gmail.com.
